When I was planning my wedding in Bermuda, I faced a frustrating reality: I couldn't trust wedding planners' vendor recommendations (they take kickbacks), and I wasn't about to rely on anonymous reviews for the biggest decisions of my life.
What saved me? A friend-of-a-friend who had just gotten married at my venue. She became my trusted advisor throughout the entire process, giving me confidence in these big decisions.
After my own wedding, I found myself fielding call after call from future brides—some planning DIY weddings, others working with top planners—all wanting to hear my firsthand experience. It didn't matter how much professional help they had; they still craved advice from someone who had just been there, done that.
That's when I dug into the vendor side of the industry and discovered something broken: vendors spend thousands monthly on directory listings with fake leads, pay massive referral fees to planners and venues, yet their highest-converting marketing is word-of-mouth from past clients.
